Outstanding MATE Success in the Hungarian Startup University Program (HUSP): Both MATE Teams Reach the Final

Students of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) have achieved significant success in this year’s Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP): both teams selected by the university have reached the national final, where the top 15 teams will compete and present their innovative ideas.

HSUP is Hungary’s largest university startup program, involving students from higher education institutions across the country. In the first semester of the program, around 70 MATE students enrolled in the course, and two student projects were selected for the second semester. These projects served as the basis for the teams that represented the university in the national competition.

During the second semester, 100 university teams worked on developing their startup ideas and competed for a place in the July final. Both teams delegated by MATE successfully completed the challenges and secured their place among the country’s top 15 teams.

By reaching the final, each team member will receive a scholarship of HUF 1 million and will have the opportunity to present their project to investors and a professional jury in early July.

The MATE projects and students that reached the final are:
•    Freasy Ice Cream Powder
– Enikő Szűcs and Csenge László (Institute of Food Science and Technology)
•    TRACOW – Zsolt Zsupos and Furat Can (Institute of Technology)

The university-level professional coordination of the HSUP program at MATE is carried out by the MATE Centre for Science Policy and Innovation, while administrative support is provided by the Centre for Student Services.

The success of the finalist teams clearly demonstrates the innovation potential of MATE students, as well as the university’s commitment to developing entrepreneurial thinking and innovation competences.
