1. General Information

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The background of the conference is the third Hungarian tied aid loan project in Laos, entitled “Agricultural Infrastructure Development”, which aims to strengthen and consolidate the Lao food chain safety system. The program also includes complex activities to help small farms in seven provinces in central and northern Laos to use modern technologies and methods in the field of cattle and fish farming and meat and fish processing and marketing. The program aims to develop the entire product value chain and will help to bring high-quality meat and fish products to the market that meet food safety requirements, will furthermore help to improve the livelihood of small rural businesses.

The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) is closely involved in the project, not only through researchers, experts and specialists, but also in the field of education, in which the two parties develop joint trainings. The aim of the conference is to present the results of the Hungarian-Lao project on an international scale, as well as to learn about good practices from experts in other countries.

This conference is being organized for the first time, however, the organizers would like to repeat the event every year. For the time being, due to the COVID pandemic, the event will be held online or in a hybrid format.

2. Call for Papers

The Hungarian-Lao Joint Scientific Committee’s mission is to promote activities that help to acquire and advance knowledge in the field of agriculture. All researchers, students, and teachers in the area of agriculture are cordially invited to join us via online platform for the 1st International Conference on Agricultural and Food Chain Safety Development.

Technical tracks are listed below for paper submission:

•    Track 1.: Pedology (modern observation tools, mapping, information systems, environmental relations)
•    Track 2.: Crop production (cultivation, plant protection, organic production, environmental relations)
•    Track 3.: Agricultural water management
•    Track 4.: Animal science (animal production, animal breeding, animal health)
•    Track 5.: Fisheries and aquaculture
•    Track 6.: Post-harvest technologies
•    Track 7.: Food chain safety system development

All papers will be peer-reviewed, and those accepted will be included in the conference proceedings. We strongly encourage all authors to submit full papers.
