Ministry Representatives Visit MATE

Dr. Ádám Imre Szűcs, the Deputy State Secretary for Training, Scholarship Programs and Science Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade visited MATE Szent István Campus on 3 November. He was welcomed by Rector Dr. Csaba Gyuricza, with whom he reviewed the experiences of implementing the Stipendium Hungaricum and the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship Program, among other issues.

During the meeting, it was noted that STEM+ training areas — such as natural sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, and agricultural and health sciences — play a key role, and they agreed that greater emphasis should be placed on the applications of students applying for these study programmes.

In the course of the discussion, which was attended by the university's senior management, it was also noted that MATE currently offers a total of 51 English-language programs at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels under the Stipendium Hungaricum (SH) program. In the last application cycle, approximately 5,300 applications were submitted for MATE’s programs, which is a record in the university's history.

MATE has also welcomed SH Sport scholarship holders this academic year. They were also pleased to report that, according to student satisfaction surveys conducted by Tempus Public Foundation, the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences provides student services that are above the national average.

Following the discussion, Deputy State Secretary Dr. Ádám Imre Szűcs had the opportunity to meet with scholarship holders participating in the Stipendium Hungaricum, SH Sport, and Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship Programs, from whom he received first-hand experiences, opinions and suggestions regarding the future of the programs.
