The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences is committed to the implementation of the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code, for which it participates in the accreditation process of the European Commission's Human Resources Strategy for Research (HRS4R for short), in line with the MATE 2030 Strategy.
As an internationally recognized university, we consider the promotion and encouragement of student and researcher mobility an utmost importance, thus we strive to take our place next to the many institutions of EURAXESS sharing our values by closely following the guidelines of HRS4R. We believe that scientific cooperation at an international level can increase the quality of our training and research capabilities, and that our participation will have a positive impact on the academic development of the European community.
What is EURAXESS?
EURAXESS is an EU initiative that aims to support researchers and research careers in Europe. The EURAXESS portal is an online platform that provides researchers with a wide range of useful information and services and provides an opportunity to establish links between researchers and research institutions. The portal helps to facilitate researcher mobility, search for research positions and find out about funding opportunities available to researchers, among other important matters.
The main topics of the EURAXESS portal are:
Research positions and job opportunities: The EURAXESS portal offers research positions and job vacancies for European research institutions and companies. Researchers can easily access job postings related to different disciplines through the portal.
Mobility and funding: EURAXESS aims to support researcher mobility, i.e. the mobility of researchers between countries or within institutions. The portal provides access to programmes that allow researchers to work in other countries, as well as information on research applications and funding opportunities.
News and events: The EURAXESS portal offers up-to-date news and events for researchers. Here you can find out about the latest research trends, events, conferences, and legal and policy changes relevant to the research community.
Advice and support: EURAXESS offers a range of services to researchers, such as legal advice, assistance with visa and licensing processes, and information on how to build a career as a researcher. The portal also helps researchers to be eligible for different mobility and funding programmes.
Networking: EURAXESS provides researchers with the opportunity to connect with other researchers and research institutes. The platform offers various events and platforms for research communities to exchange experiences and establish collaborations.
Training and professional development: EURAXESS also offers various online courses and workshops to help researchers develop professionally and advance their research careers.
EURAXESS is therefore a multifaceted platform supporting the global research community, providing information and services related to facilitating researcher mobility, building research careers and participating in international research.
The Human Resources Strategy for Research (HRS4R for short) is an initiative of the European Commission that is in existence since 2008 and aims to implement the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for Researchers in Recruitment (Charter and Code). Commitment to HRS4R is a voluntary process that requires long-term efforts and coordination from institutions. The Charter sets out general principles and requirements for researchers and their employers to promote successful performance in the field of knowledge and technological development and in the career development of researchers. The Code of Conduct for Researchers Recruitment sets out principles and requirements that employers should keep in mind when recruiting or appointing researchers. These principles emphasise a transparent recruitment process and equal treatment of all applicants. The European Commission awards the HR Excellence in Research Award to eligible institutions, which is a hallmark of a professional and supportive working environment for their current and future colleagues. The HR Research Excellence Award is awarded to research organisations that adhere to the principles of the European Charter of Researchers, thereby committing to ensuring that researchers can enjoy the same rights and obligations in any European country.
The HRS4R implementation process consists of five main steps:
Self-assessment
Elaboration of an action plan
Winning the HRS4R title
Implementation
Monitoring and evaluation
These five steps help research institutions to improve the research environment, thus promoting the career development of researchers and increasing the quality of research processes.
The HRS4R project is implemented by MATE (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences), in which different departments and staff of the university participate. The implementation of the project at the operational level is based on the control of the actions of the MATE staff and the coordinating role of the project manager. To ensure the effective implementation of the strategy, the University regularly monitors progress and the effectiveness of the implementation of measures. The role of the HRS4R Steering Committee is to oversee the progress of the project and the implementation process. The committee evaluates the measures at regular meetings and ensures that the project objectives are met. The Steering Committee therefore plays a key role in the successful implementation of the HRS4R strategy, continuous monitoring and the implementation of any necessary changes.
