Dr. István Szanyi - MATE Research
Overview
István Szanyi is a physicist in the Femtoscopy Laboratory of MATE's Institute of Technology. His research targets both theoretical and experimental investigations. He studies the central exclusive production of particles in proton-proton collisions as well as diffractive proton-proton and proton-antiproton scattering, including elastic processes. He analyses data measured in detectors at particle accelerators, mainly at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) operated by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). István Szanyi is a member of the CERN LHC CMS experimental group. He is also interested in analysing data on economic processes.

The main objective of this project with AGRICOLAE Ltd. is the production of high value-added food products from traditional fruits (apple, cherry, plum) in the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region of Hungary, with special flavours and aromas. Furthermore, new innovative production, gentle preservation and advanced packaging technologies are developed to produce marketable products. During this project, fermented probiotic beverages were design using a mixture of the traditional fruits. The viability of the probiotic, the composition of the fermented fruit juice and the organoleptic properties was also investigated.
